Unit Elections
The way to become a member of the Order of the Arrow is to be meet the requirements listed below, and to be elected by members of your troop or team.
All members of your troop are voting members, even if they are not members of the Order of the Arrow.
Each year Spe-Le-Yai Lodge hosts Troop/Team elections between February and October until the week before Camp-O-Ree.
Scouts - If you are interested please let your scoutmaster know that we are having elections, tell them to visit Spe-le-yai.org for more info.
Scoutmasters - If you are interested in having an election for your unit please register online or contact the Unit Elections Adviser Jacob Herman and request a date, there are many troops in the council that would like elections, and we will see that each and every troop gets one, but there might be scheduling conflicts, please include two (2) dates for you request, at least two (2) weeks in advance, and we will make it happen.
Joining Requirements - Youth
- Achieved 1st Class Rank
- Camped at least a total of 15 days and 15 nights (no more than 6 of these can be met by attending Summer Scout Camp) in the previous two (2) years.
- Be recommended by the Scoutmaster
Joining Requirements - Adult
- Camped at least a total of 15 days and 15 nights (no more than 6 of these can be met by attending Summer Scout Camp) in the previous two (2) years.
- Be recommended by the Troop Committee. The Troop committee needs to complete a Scouter Nomination Form

Once elections are complete, Scoutmasters have the option to keep the results secret and wait for the Tap-Out at the Camp-O-Ree or have the names announced at the meeting.
